WAVES

Written and Directed By Tilly Thorp

“What is grief, except love persevering?”

Waves is a love letter to girlhood in 2000s South London. Set against the backdrop of corner‑shop pick ’n’ mix, sharing iPod Shuffle headphones on the P4 to Brixton, and blasting Rizzle Kicks, it paints a rich tapestry of adolescence and explores what makes a place feel like home. Written in poetry and blending film, puppetry, and movement, Waves is a multidisciplinary story of sisterhood in the face of grief.

Waves was developed by the National Youth Theatre’s Writing Mentorship programme. It was first performed at the Space Theatre as part of Soul Spire Arts’ ‘Roots and Connections’ Scratch night. Waves later went on to the Camden Fringe Festival at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre, where it had a sold out run. Waves was produced by Blank Space Collective with generous support from PW Productions.

SO THEN I SAID -

SO THEN I SAID -

‘This is a love letter to messy bedrooms, everything showers, hungover debriefs, and group trips to the clinic’

Filled with juicy gossip and a tender movement sequence dedicated to thongs, SO THEN I SAID is a raw, riotous ride through the joy, chaos, and intimacy of womanhood.

Devised and Directed by Tilly Thorp

Performed at the Rose Theatre, Rose Bruford College, Sidcup.
